How Art Can Favor Your Children

Practical tips for fostering artistic skills

Schools often do not pay enough attention to creative learning and the time spent on completing such a project. In general, the time of artistic activities is limited since they are considered more of a distraction than a learning tool. Therefore, we must try to promote the importance of art in learning.

“Every child is an artist; the problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up.”                                                                                                                                       -Pablo Picasso-

As parents, we want our children to develop fully and develop their intellectual capacities in an optimal way. Good parenting means providing them with enough tools to promote good physical and mental development. There are many ways to encourage kids to develop their artistic skills and we have a responsibility to teach them what they need to know.

It is crucial to support the creativity of our children with tools that we can use at home to initiate, motivate, and accompany them in their artistic creations. These tips can help:

Congratulate your children, not just the result of their work:Instead of saying: “What a beautiful song!”, It is better to say: “You are a great artist!” The important thing of this action is that you feel congratulated. This can motivate you to do more of what you like and have enough freedom to do it.

Refuse to impose too many rules: It is common to be tempted to establish rules at home that are usually very strict. However, according to some studies, the most creative children are those who grow up in an environment with fewer rules. In other words, freedom begins by allowing children to find creative solutions to specific problems. Imagination cannot be limited.

Talk to children about what they do: It is important that children consider valid reasons for their actions. Through communication, children’s taste for the arts can also be stimulated. An example might be asking where and why to save each item. You may also ask them to share in detail about their paintings, songs, or dances.

These are some aspects that you can take into account to stimulate the artistic skills in your children and polish their talents as they grow and discover their passion.
